Traditional Craftsmanship & Fair Trade : Pure Lana, Naturally Luxurious

Traditional Craftsmanship & Fair Trade

Traditional Craftsmanship & Fair Trade

Using traditional craftsmanship each product within our 'naturally luxurious range' is handcrafted with the purest fibres. Products are free from chemical dyes or bleaches.

'Touch' is the principal theme behind the range. Each product is either hand woven on looms or hand-knitted with care, passion and real attention to detail which results in a uniquely comfortable, durable and luxurious texture.

The principal of Fair Trade is of paramount importance to Pure Lana who is committed to supporting true artisans and traditional craftsmanship. We work with suppliers who are concerned with meeting the Fair Trade Standards covering Small Producers, Fair Trade price and premium for ongoing investment into communities.

By way of example, our gorgeous sheep's wool throws are produced by a self employed group of talented weavers based in the foothills of the Himalayas in Mussoorie and Dehradun. Two tribes are involved in the process: the Bhotias and the Jaunpuris. The Bhotias are groups of people living along a wide stretch of the Himalayas. They are legendary traders, shepherds, spinners and weavers. For generations they have nurtured partnerships with nomadic Tibetans, enriching their craft by learning about new dyes and adapting Tibetan designs. Based on the practices of fair trade, the salaries and wage rates paid are considerably higher than those prevalent in the area. The throws also have the coveted Craftmark certification which is given by the Government of India for genuine handmade crafts.

The hand crafted process makes each product in our collection very unique which is why we refer to them as Forever Products. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
