About Llama

Llamas are part of the camelid family, which is thought to have originated in North America. Some camelids then migrated to South America, where they developed into llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. Others developed into Bactrian and Dromedary Camels. Llamas have been around for thousands of years, living in the Andes Mountains of Peru.

Llamas are the larger cousins to the alpaca. Like alpacas, llamas have very fine fibre with no lanolin content which makes the yarn ideal for those who are allergic to sheep’s wool. Llamas produce a hollow fibre, so it is warmer and lighter than traditional wools. The wool is remarkably light and warm and comes in an array of natural colours.

Our ‘urban chic’ style cushions and throws are the ultimate in homeware luxury, complementing sofa’s, chairs and beds. Our products are handwoven from the natural fleece of the llama using traditional weaving methods.
